MACVA Mid-Autumn Festival Dinner 2018

Malaysian Armed Forces Chinese Veterans Association (MACVA) successfully held its Mid-Autumn Festival Dinner at Hakka Restaurant, Jalan Kia Peng, Kuala Lumpur on 23 Sep 18. A total of 300 MACVs, friends and honour guest attended the event.

The programme of the event:-
1. 6.30 pm - Arrival; sign in and pre dinner drinks.
2. 7.00 pm - Dinner announcement by Emcee; Lt Col Wong Ah Jit (Rtd).
3. 7.05 pm - Chairman Organising Committee Speech; Lt Cdr Phua Hean Sim RMN (Rtd).
4. 7.15 pm - MACVA President Speech; Maj Tan Pau Son (Rtd).
5. 7.30 pm - Dinner served.
6. 10.30 pm - End of Dinner.

The camaraderie and comradeship of all present on the evening were fantastic as friends and colleagues fellowship while enjoying a sumptuous Chinese dinner that was served throughout the 30 tables.

We would also like to say thank you to our Honorary Member Rear Adm Tan Sri Dato' Seri K. Thanabalasingam RMN (Rtd), the serving officers of the Army and RMN and representative from the Malaysian Armed Forces Sikh Veterans Association for their presence and support.

Lastly, we would like to thank the Organising Chairman VP RMN Lt Cdr Phua Hean Sim RMN (Rtd) and his hardworking committees for their effort and sacrifice in ensuring the success of the event and extend our sincere apologies for any short comings during the dinner.

RMAF Veteran 2018 Annual Dinner

RMAF Veterans recently held its 2018 Annual Dinner at Sin Choi Wah Restaurant, Bandar Sri Menjalara, Kuala Lumpur on 14 Jul 18. About 350 RMAF Veterans, spouses, Army and RMN Veterans, colleagues and friends attended the event which was organised by MACVA RMAF Committee. Registration for the event started at 6.00 pm and the event duly commenced at 7.00 pm with a Welcoming Speech by the Organising Chairman VP RMAF Joe Pie Chong Seng. The emcee for the night was Honsec Wong Ah Jit. A spendid 8 courses dinner was then served accompanied by songs performance from guest entertainers. The camaraderie and comradeship throughout the 35 dinner tables were fantastic as Veterans and colleagues mingle in fellowship.

The event continued with the Handling Over of the Sarawak Sabah Self Drive Tour Team A Banner by Team Leader Chaw Meng to VP Army Godfrey Chang and Team B Banner by Team Leader Lim Ah Bah to VP RMN Phua Hean Sim. VP RMAF Joe Pie Chong Seng subsequently presented Dedications awards for contributions to:-

The event continued with songs from entertainers and fellowship among all presents. Welldone to the Organising Chairman VP RMAF Joe Pie Chong Seng and his RMAF Commitee for their great effort in making the RMAF Annual Dinner such a successful event. A fantastic nite of enjoyment and true camaraderie of RMAF MACVs and a great atmosphere with the presence of Army and RMN MACVs.

East Malaysian Chapter Dinner and Award Presentation

VP Army Maj Godfrey Chang (Rtd) visited Kuching recently and had a Dinner with local MACVs with spouses at Hornbill Restaurant, Sarawak Club on 3 May 18. GOC 1st Division Maj Gen Datuk Stephen Mundaw was invited and he kindly graced the occassion where he presented MACVA Dedication Awards to MACVs Gallantry Medal holders:-
Lt Col Fabian Wong Boon Soon (Rtd); Pingkat Keberanian (PK) Sarawak;
Lt Col John Lai Kim Chee (Rtd); Jasa Perkasa Persekutuan (JPP) Federal;

The awards were part of the Dedication Awards presented to MACVs during MACVA 2018 Chinese New Year Dinner held in the Grand Ballroom of Sin Choi Wah Restaurant, Bandar Sri Menjalara, Kuala Lumpur on 24 Feb 18. Both recipients expressed their sincere thanks and appreciations to MACVA President Maj Tan Pauson (Rtd) and Commitee Members for the awards. MACVA would like to express its sincere gratitude to Maj Gen Datuk Stephen Mundaw for taking time off to attend the Dinner and presenting the awards.

MACVA 2018 Chinese New Year Dinner

Malaysian Armed Forces Chinese Veterans Association (MACVA) recently held its association Chinese New Year Dinner in the Grand Ballroom of Sin Choi Wah Restaurant, Bandar Sri Menjalara, Kuala Lumpur on 24 Feb 18. A total of 455 MACVs, spouses, colleagues, friends and honour guests from Malaysian Armed Forces Indian Veterans Association (PERIM), Malaysia Armed Forces Sikh Veterans Association (MAFSVA) and Malaysia Armed Forces attended the event.

MACVs and guests began arriving at 6.00 pm to register for the event. MACVA Honorary Member Rear Adm Tan Sri Dato' Seri K. Thanabalasingam RMN (Rtd) was present to celebrate the festive occasion with MACVs.

The event commenced at 7.00 pm with a lion dance performance to usher in the New Year followed by a Welcoming Speech by the Organising Chairman and Emcee for the night VP Army Maj Godfrey Chang (Rtd). MACVA President Maj Tan Pau Son (Rtd) was invited on stage where he first wished everyone present a Happy Chinese New Year, Good Health, Wealth, Peace and Prosperity; and delivered his New Year Speech.

A sumptuous 8 courses dinner was then served and the choruses of Yam Seng were heard throughout the 46 dinner tables in unison. The camaraderie and comradeship of all present were fantastic as old friends and colleagues met for fellowship.

The presentation of Service Medals and Dedication Awards begans at 9.00 pm with MACVA President Maj Tan Pau Son (Rtd) presenting the following:-

10 PPA (Pingat Perkhidmatan Am) to 10 RMN Veterans and Lt Ng Thian Yew (Rtd) was also presented with PPS (Pingat PerKhidmatan Setia).

The event continued with music from the live band where MACVs with spouses/friends were invited to the dance floor. The atmosphere was lively where some senior couples still dazzled in dancing the Cha-Cha. It was great to see so many MACVs enjoying themselves with their love ones in a very joyful and happy CNY mood.

MACVA would like to thank the Organising Chairman VP Army Maj Godfrey Chang and his hardworking committees for their effort and sacrifice in ensuring the success of the event. We also like to express our sincere gratitude’s to CPO Sky Chen Ka Kim for sponsoring the lion dance, CPO Michael Lee for sponsoring the band and the President for sponsoring the Ang Pows to the 4 Gallantry Medal holders, 35 serving senior officers and their spouses and 36 bottles of wine.

MACVA Visit Hospital Angkatan Tentera (HAT) Tuanku Mizan

MACVA visited patients at HAT Tuanku Mizan on 28 Feb 18. Besides being a social responsibility, the visit was a gesture to share the greetings and joy of the Chinese New Year with them. MACVs gathered at the hospital Main Lobby by 8.30 am where gift bags were handover to HAT Tuanku Mizan staff to be prepositioned at the respective wards. They then separated into 4 prearranged groups to begin the visit at 9.30 am. Some 150 patients, from young infants to the elderly received gift bags and angpows in the Malaysian spirit of sharing and giving.
