TRIBUTE TO A GOOD SAMARITAN CPO SKY CHEN KA KIM RMN

Ultimate Jaya Engineering Sdn Bhd where MACVA Committee Member Sky Chen is the Technical Director recently accepted three Sarawakian youth into an On Job Training (OJT) program. They are students of JT Akademi Sdn Bhd, a vocational college located at Muaran Tabuan, Kuching and are undergoing a Diploma Welding Course specialising in Under Water Welding. The five months internship is from 21 Sep 20 to 12 Feb 21 and the training package covers a monthly training allowance, food allowance and free lodging.

The three youth – Andrian Anggang Anthony, Desmond Amir Anak Agan and Mixsuel Anak Philip arrived in Kuala Lumpur from Kuching on 19 Sep 20 and were received by Sky Chen. They reported for training on 21 Sep 20 and were placed under the supervision of the company Operation Manager Noel ak Sigan who also acts as the program Training Officer. Incidentally, Noel also hails from Sarawak. The internship began with the Working at Height (WAH) Safety Course which was fully sponsor by the company. Due to Covid19 movement restriction, the three of them attended the course online from Sky Chen office.

MACVA is very proud of Sky Chen charitable and noble efforts in assisting the development of the youth training by offering then a fully sponsor internship package. Bravo Zulu to Sky Chen actions and we pray that Desmond, Andrian and Mixsuel will benefit greatly from the knowledge and experience gain from this internship.

MACVA PATIENTS MOBILITY ASSISTACE (MPMA) TO LIFE MEMBER BRIG GEN SHAROM BIN HASHIM

MPMA once again came to the assistance of MACVA member Brig Gen Sharom bin Hashim who is suffering from mobility difficulties as he has end-stage renal failure due to his advanced diabetes. MPMA Founder, Richard Lye Wah delivered a wheelchair, a walker and a drip stand to the house of Brig Gen Sharom at Villa Pawana, Jalan Pawang, Kuala Lumpur (nearby to Mindef) in the afternoon on Sunday 20 September 2020. The delivery coincided with a planned visit by MACVA members and their spouses to Brig Gen Sharom Bin Hashim and his wife Pn Maimon Bte Ahmad.

Brig Gen Sharom and his family members were extremely touched and thankful to Richard Lye and MACVA for the arrangement and delivery of the MPMA equipment on loan to him with no charges. MACVA members and their spouses brought joy and the spirit of comradeship to Brig Gen Sharom. The specially prepared Hainanese chicken rice and other dishes for lunch were cooked at house of Brig Gen Sharom by AJ Wong and Carol Loo. It was a memorable occasion for Brig Gen Sharom and the family members. The thank you message from Dr Sheila Sharom, daughter of Brig Gen Sharom to Carol Loo on the MPMA equipment and our visit was in deed touching and warmed our hearts.

MACVA PATIENTS MOBILITY ASSISTANCE (MPMA) FOR MEMBER WO I WILLIAM HOR WAH SIM RMAF

The MPMA Team Members led by Richard Lye Wah made delivery of a hospital bed to MACVA member William Hor Wah Sim, 74 years old at his home at Taman Desa Minang, Batu Caves, Selangor on Saturday 12 September 2020.

It started when Hon Sec Wong Ah Jit spoke to Mdm Lee Yoke Hwa concerning MACVA Tabung Pahlawan (MTP) and found out that William Hor, who had sufferred stroke since December 2017 was bedridden and using a normal bed. Subsequently, a request for assistance of a hospital bed for William Hor was made to MPMA on 10 Sep 20.

MACVA PATIENTS MOBILITY ASSISTANCE (MPMA) FOR MEMBER SGT WILLIAM HO KIM SAM, MELAKA

The MPMA Team Members led by its Founder Richard Lye Wah made an urgent delivery of a hospital bed to the house of MACVA member William Ho Kim Sam, 83 years old at Taman Perwira Cheng, Melaka on Wednesday 16 September 2020.

William Ho who is a cancer patient had a fall last week and is now bedridden. Ong Tze Tong RMAF made an urgent request to Hon Sec for the loan of a hospital bed from the MPMA. Richard Lye was alerted of the request and HE confirmed immediately the hospital bed is available.

The hospital bed was delivered from the MPMA warehouse at Klang to William Ho’s house on Wednesday 16 September 2020 despite of the public holiday. The care shown by the MPMA Team is laudable and greatly appreciated by MACVA and the members of the Melaka Chapter.

Melaka Chapter members led by its Chairman Georgy Gan Chin Beng were present at the home of William Ho to receive the MPMA Team Members. The warm reception given to the MPMA and care shown by the Melaka Chapter members to William Ho made us feel proud.

On behalf of the President and all members of MACVA, our profound thank you and gratitude to the MPMA Team Members Richard Lye, Mr Chew Song Kong, Pang Hung Sin, Foo CS and Anthony Chong for making the huge effort to deliver and installed the hospital bed for William Ho in Melaka.

MACVs Welfare Visits

Kuala Lumpur MACVs visited Brig Gen Sharom Hashim (Retired) who is undergoing dialysis at his residence on 16 Aug 20. The visiting MACVs were Godfrey Chang, Wong Ah Jit, Carol Loo and John Soon. They wish him well and a speedy recovery. On 12 Aug 20, another group of MACVs visited Sgt Leong Kin Keong RAMF who is suffering from cancer at Pantai Hospital. The MACVs led by Leong Yeok Po includes Tham Chun Wah and Loh Ham Choon. During the visit Leong Yeok Po presented a Get Well Angpow to Sgt Leong.

The MACVs have taken time off to visit their colleagues, to cheer them up and wish them well. This small gesture shows great camaraderie and comradeship among MACVs and kudos to all who have made the effort. It is one of MACVA objectives to render assistance and support to its Veteran members who are in dire need of help and we pray for their speedy recovery.

Northern Chapter and Lions Club Penang
Assistance to Larm Kok Kong

75 years old Larm Kok Kong is a residence of Rifle Range Flats in Air Hitam, Penang. He was a former F&N truck driver cum sales and a pensioner suffering from diabetes. In early February 2020, his left foot was amputated due to gangrene infection. Since then he was unable to walk and in need of a prosthetic leg.

When Northen Chapter (NC) knew of his plight, Ng Chor Huat approach the Lions Clun Penang to request assistance for Larm. The Lions agreed to help and on 25 Jul 20, NC Chairman Ng Chor Huat, Phoo Ah Fook with the Lions Club team comprises the President Doris Lee and prosthetic CMs visited Larm at his residence. Lion Philip Ng conducted a interview with Larm during the visit.

The estimate cost of the prosthetic limb; between RM 8K to RM 15K will be sponsor by Lions Club Penang. A later date will be set for the company that provides the limb to visit Larm for fitness assessment and subsequent fitting. Well done to NC for the noble effort to assist Larm Kok Kong. MACVA would also like to register its sincere gratitude to Lions Club Penang for the kind assistance to Larm. It is one of MACVA objectives to provide charity to deserving Malaysians and we pray that Larm will recover and receive his prosthetic limb soon.
